Growing Good News and Community Action

Common Roots Rising believes good news is worth growing and spreading. To nurture this growth we’ve started a good news network! We have two podcast series with new episodes being released every week. Our interviews explore organizations and people making a positive difference in our region. If you know people and have ideas that you feel would be a fit for a good news story, pleases send them our way.

Get Involved

We are growing a community collaboration network to support good action in our communities. Our group meets at least monthly to discuss and collaborate around ideas and activities that we can help grow more common good in Central Wisconsin.

We focus on celebrating co-creative culture, sustainability and commUNITY. Connect with us and bring your inspiration, ideas, and dreams for creating a more beautiful place for us all to live.

Waupaca River Clean-Up May 1

Waupaca River at Brainard’s Bridge Park

We are organizing a river clean-up event and celebration at Brainard’s Bridge Park on May 1st in partnership with the Fox-Wolf Watershed Clean-Up. The event will include cleaning up along the riverbanks in the park, some learning opportunities, and a celebration of May Day, the midpoint between Spring and Summer. Watch for more details about this fun event.

Podcasts

Our Imaginal Roots podcast series explores the roots of creativity and connection with imaginative people helping to make the world more beautiful. New episodes are being released every other week.

In our recent episodes, we learn about Shane Zach’s love for jade carving. We also explore the plant world with Asa Plonsky, a regional invasive species coordinator, and we talk about the experience of pasture walks and learn about regenerative agriculture with Rachel Bouressa.

The Common Roots Rising podcast series cultivates community through conversations about innovative ideas, connections, and community activities supporting the common good. New episodes every other week!

Our debut episode features guests Oren Jacobsen and Ella Janson sharing their new project, Hillcrest Farm Factory. In our next episode, we talk with Sarah River about the need to support local food, and the Stevens Point Winter Farm Market.
