We love the natural beauty of central Wisconsin. There are so many places to explore and to immerse yourself nature. Walking in nature is a refreshing break from our busy activities.
Jorgens Park Preserve is one of these places. The park includes 40 acres of rolling fields, meadows, wooded and wetland areas on the north and east shores of Silver Lake in Scandinavia.
At the main parking spot there is a restored barn.
The trails offer a beautiful variety of scenery. Silver Lake is a nice place to pause and reflect. The park has even installed 2 docks to allow better access to the water.
The path from the main parking area back to the boat landing and town follows the lake and goes through a restored native prairie.
If you want to take a longer walk you can loop the lake on the trails along the north and east side and then on Silver Lake Rd. / Lake St. / Oak St. / Hwy 49 and back to Jorgens Park.
As you walk around the lake there is another dock at the small boat landing to access the views and the water.
This view of the lake is along Hwy 49 going into the village of Scandinavia. Jorgens Park Preserve is on the opposite side of the lake.
The boardwalk crosses a wetland just inside the park access from Silver Lake Rd.
There are multiple spots to enjoy the water along the east side trail.
The east side path winds through a white pine forest
The trails wind through the woods and marsh. This is a view from the trail looking west with a frozen wetland in the foreground and the pine forest trail that runs along the east side of Silver Lake in the background.
Jorgens Nature Park Preserve is a gem to be enjoyed in our rural community.
