Grassroots Uprising Mutual Aid Market

Grassroots Uprising will be a public monthly Mutual Aid Market under the Common Roots Rising commUNITY umbrella (including Common Roots Rising & CommonRootsRising.org ), one Saturday morning per month beginning in May through October.

Valerie Nett is the visionary behind the Grassroots Uprising Mutual Aid market. Valerie has been working on this idea for months. When Valerie discovered Common Roots Rising she decided we would be a great fit to collaborate and co-create this new mutual aid market.

● Mutual aid organizations from Fond du Lac to Green Bay are invited to hold free booth spaces at Opera House Square, which is conveniently located next to the Oshkosh Farmer’s Market, to accomplish three main goals:

1. GIVE PUBLIC HELP

Introduce the community to local mutual aid resources they can utilize that provide various assistance – free of qualifications, restrictions, and charge.

2. RECEIVE PUBLIC HELP

Invite those within the community who have the means, to contribute to mutual aid organizations, which do not get any government funding. Whether contributing financially, by providing needed wishlist items, or volunteering time, resources, etc., there are many ways for people to give what others need.

3. NETWORK RESOURCES

Connect local mutual aid organizations together, to enable communication to flow more easily between the groups. Learn each other’s needs and work together to meet them, share resources, and collaborate projects.

⭐️ For the Orgs:

Over the next few days, we’ll be reaching out to area mutual aid groups to provide them information about this event and offer them the chance to participate. If your organization would like to get involved you can email Valerie at GrassrootsUprising2026@gmail.com and she will send you the info and sign up sheet.

⭐️ For the Public:

Please join us to learn what these orgs can do for you, what you can do for them, AND participant in a different themed SWAP mutual aid activity each month! Declutter & refresh your wardrobes, toy closets, personal libraries, and more!

● Currently scheduled dates/swap themes:

Saturday, May 23 – Clothing

Saturday, June 6 – Toys & Games

(Additional dates/themes will be announced when decided upon.)

● Please follow Common Roots Rising for updates and other area events! As we get closer to each event date, we will share more details about which orgs will attend each date, their donation wishlists, and any additional information on any special activities, demonstrations, or educational mini workshops their booths might host.

Huge thank yous to Mark and Dean especially for their efforts and input into making this a reality! We are a great team, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next year will bring for all of us, together!
